Best OAHU guitar?

Post by J D Sauser »

I recently bought a Valco made OAHU Tonemaster Model 230K amp. Although it looks like the one below, mine is in much better condition:

It's my only class A/B vintage amp, it sound killer (even on the pedalsteel).</center>

Since I have all my lapsteels matched with their amp, I have been looking around for an OAHU steel to go with this amp. But I don't have much knowledge about OAHU in general, and most of their guitars I've seen so far looked not so great...

Therefore my questions:<UL>
[*]What would have been the matching OAHU steel guitar for that amp (ca. 1951?)?
[*]REGARDLESS OF THE YEAR, which is being regarded as the best OAHU steel guitar, ever?[/list]

Thanks!

J.D., I don't know about the amps, but the Oahu Diana is one fine lap steel. I've got 2 of them, and one sounds better than the other, but they are both real good.

I have not played most of the other models of the Oahu's, but I have played a few of the lower-end models and they were'nt too good. Maybe somebody else can name a better one, but my choice so far is the Diana. Hope this helps.
