I see there is some renewed conversation about 6 string guitars again. Over the years I've had some of both. I currently have a 10 3x4 and a 6 3x2.
About 9-10 years ago we really thrashed this topic out on the forum. Some felt it best to start on a 10 some felt a 6 was a great option. It really is all about what you value most. Bottom line is you can play a lot of pedal steel on a 6 anyway. So the glass is half full or half empty. You decide.
I dug up this old post of Together Again that can be played on 6 string psg. Have fun.

Re: 6 string PSG tab Together Again
Good stuff there Dave. Wish I had that tuning back when I had my 6 string Cougar. I did a thing with some friends and took that guitar because it was easy to tote and I didn't think my contribution would be much at this particular event since there was going to be about 15 people on stage.
Anyway, lo and behold some Tom Brumley/Buck/steel guitar lover in the audience requested Together Again. Sadly and embarrased, I had to decline because I didn't have the proper setup to do that tune.
Lesson learned, if you're going to play out be prepared for any situation. You never know who's going to be in the audience...a steel guitar enthusiast or even another steel player.
That was on me because the 6 banger is quite capable of that and much more....I was experimenting with some stuff and just didn't have the tuning I needed for that tune.
