Face To Face ... As a Shuffle?

Post by Dale Rottacker »

Been almost 100 days since I’ve posted anything or really even played … been a bit distracted, you know, Squirrels!!

Anyhow, out of practice, yet still wanted to play this song, and as a SHUFFLE, and it seems to work. Hope you enjoy.

That's the kind of steel playing that got my attention years ago. Great way to do a song.

I've always been amazed at a how a shuffle feel can make an old hymn come alive. Very impressive. A vocalist is not required to put that kind of emotion into that song. If that's what you sound like with little to no practice, I can't imagine what a well rehearsed version would be.
Blessings to you Dale, and I can't wait to here the next tune.

Thank you Rick ... I remember when Steel finally really got my attention. Wasn't all that fancy but I vividly remember Cal Smith singing, "Hello Mrs Johnson" and for some reason the Steel, I think by John Hughey grabbed, and from the back seat of our 63 Coupe De Ville, I exclaimed, "Dad, thats what I want to play"

BTW, I WOULD play that song in Church, you'd have to frame and set it up properly, but I would play it.

Thats very kind Dwayne, and I agree about the feel of a shuffle. When I was a kid, my younger brother and I had a Gospel group, and we'd have my brother play walking, (we called it running bass) on about everything possible. :D ... Was maybe a bit much for our conservative setting, but when you learn something new, you tend to use it ALL the time till the new wears off.

Dwayne my skill set is pretty limited. I'm easily lost and though my fingers were NEVER great, they're even less so now. Yet I do love this instrument, which vexes and excites me all at the same time. Stay tuned as they say.

Yep..... Better known as "The Lord Knows I'm Drinking" yeah, play it in church to demonstrate that the Lord knows all that's going on. Without words. It doesn't really matter anyway. It's a good melody.
