Sunny Side of the Street - better tuning

Post by Lloyd Graves »

Hi all.

I was listening to Mary Ford and Les Paul's version of Sunny Side of the Street, which I just adore, and thought that I'd love to learn the head and (at least) one of the breaks. (Couldn't find it on YouTube, but this later version is about the same: https://youtu.be/gtdQOMR31r8?si=ncP4eEk3U070mYA6)

If you ask HAD to choose between high bass A and C#min, which do you think you'd use for this tune. I'm more adept with high bass A, so that would be my go to. But I have tinkered with C#min and WANT to learn the tuning better, so it could be a nice exercise. So I'm wondering which would be"better."

(Unless anyone has it tabbed out in one of these tunings already, which would just be a different learning experience.)

Thanks much!
Lloyd
