Killing time and surfing Reverb, always looking for something new, and ran across some business trying to pass off what appears to be a 'frankensteel' for a Sho-Bud
Now I've probably had 25 Sho-Buds from 1971 models to 1980 models with various advancements of undercarriages from rack and barrel to die cast Super pro late models, but something isn't right about this one.

The endplates look more like Russler, and the undercarriage isn't any I've seen before lol
The pedals seem offset a bit as my 77 and 80 are inline with the part you put your foot on.
I also have a 1977 Pro 1 built in Nashville at the factory on Second Ave North, and its pedals are different too from my 1980 Pro ll built at the same factory, but this states it's a '74' and the pedals are too small for that year, I think
What I can see of the changer appears correct. Serial number 5732 was 6/1974, but the stamp style bothers me as it's not like any of mine
If you are familiar with different years of Sho-Buds, take a look and tell me what you think
Regardless, I really dislike people getting ripped off and not getting something they paid their hard-earned bucks for that was clearly misrepresented
Then, on the flip side, maybe the business bought it from someone and took their word for it. In that case, the listing should be changed to 'parts' guitar
Thanks
WC

Pedal steel guitars fetch serious money, thus there are scammers working the market at every opportunity. The only truly safe bets are buying from forum members or direct from manufacturers.

Here is a tip for buying on reverb. Click on "message the seller". Their name will pop up and a lot of times, they are forum members and you can usually work a better deal off of Reverb where they don't have to pay reverb's stiff charges and deal with a tax form at the end of the year.

In this case, the seller's name is "Phil C." lol. Red flag.

Another Sho-Bud Ghost has arisen. Maybe Halloween made it appear???

I got mixed up with a D10 Sho-Bud Ghost once. That had front neck set up with permanent pull rods, Cross shafts and bell cranks. Back neck had rack and barrel hardware setup underneath.
The guitar was traded for in Ohio, The owner said he had $400.oo in it. Around 2005 was a steal for a true Sho-Bud.
The guitar was in my control when destroyed in a fire. I had to pay the $400.oo

Calling @Ricky.

What a weird frankensteel. I’ve had a few ShoBuds - not nearly as many as you though, WC. To me, the body, undercarriage and changer look like proper timeframe pro II. But what about those endplates, that funky keyhead, and the pedals?

Sho-bubby? Can’t help but wonder if Bobbe Seymour had a hand in it. Lol.
