Tiare no Tahiti …. Byrd, Isaacs, Akaka
Here’s one you may not have heard … a great version of “Tiare no Tahiti” off of Alan Akaka and the Islanders 1990 album Islands Call … featuring a trio of steel guitars … Jerry Byrd, Barney Isaacs and Alan Akaka

Beautiful album cover.
It was long standing custom that musicians would wear all white at performances in Waikiki.
I've heard more than a few old timers complain about those all white outfits. lol. Everybody said they were a pain, and expressed relief and gratitude when they went out of style.
You'll still see the Royal Hawaiian Band wear all white with a red sash every now and again for Parades and such.
Thanks for sharing Rick!
Aloha,
Mike K

Does anybody know if Augie Goupil's recording is the first or original recording of this song?
That would make Danny Stewart the first steel guitarist to play it on record.
I don't know for sure, but would have thought that recording was 1937 or 1938...
